Tandem Diabetes Care Revolutionizes Insulin Delivery with Dexcom G7 Integration
After months of collaborating, Tandem Diabetes Care announced the integration of their updated t:slim X2 insulin pump software with Dexcom’s newest G7 Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) in the United States. Tandem is the first company to integrate its hybrid closed-loop system with Dexcom’s latest CGM.

The FDA-approved Dexcom G7 is renowned for its 60% size reduction from the G6, a 30-minute sensor warm-up period, and a 12-hour grace period for seamless sensor transitions. Now, the integration with Tandem's t:slim X2 insulin pump allows users to experience a revolutionary level of convenience, accuracy, and longer time spent in Control-IQ.
For those unfamiliar with the term, Control-IQ technology is an advanced hybrid closed loop insulin delivery system, where the algorithm automatically adjust insulin. The technology predict levels 30 minutes in advance and automatically adjusts insulin delivery every five minutes, and deliver an automatic correction bolus up to once per hour.
The benefits help individuals with diabetes increase their time in range.
Tandem plans to extend this technology to more than 300,000 existing t:slim X2 users in the U.S. through an entirely free and remote software update. Simultaneously, new customers will receive t:slim X2 pumps pre-loaded with the updated software, showcasing the company's commitment to advancing automated insulin delivery (AID) systems.
Jake Leach, Executive Vice President and COO at Dexcom emphasized the culmination of their partnership, stating, “The Dexcom G7 and t:slim X2 insulin pump integration is the culmination of years of partnership and a shared commitment to improve the lives of people with diabetes.” Tandem Diabetes Care is offering a free software update for the new G7 CGM to individuals already using the t:slim X2 insulin pump.
Furthermore, Tandem plans to extend the integration to additional countries outside the U.S. in early 2024, marking a global stride toward enhancing diabetes care.
